PSR strives to confront the gravest threats to human health through public education, advocacy, and organizing health professionals and others who care deeply about the future that our great great grandchildren will inherit. Below are Powerpoint slide shows I have assembled (with collaboration as noted) to shed light on the threats of nuclear weapons and global warming. "Nuclear Washington 2-2010"  This slide show introduces the Trident nuclear weapons system based on Hood Canal and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation near the Tri-Cities - includes a description of the Trident system and its nuclear warheads, a brief look at Hanford's nuclear waste tanks, and makes the case that the world must eliminate nuclear weapons.

"Downside of Nuclear Energy 5-2009"  (Powerpoint slide show - 9 MB)My presentation to the INSPIRE group May 16, 2009 This slide show summarizes the key concerns regarding nuclear energy, specifically it's inescapable connection with nuclear weapons, but most especially it's financial liabilities which will seriously retard effective responses to global warming if the US pursues new nuclear power plants.

"Global Heating: Real, Rapid and Redressable" (Powerpoint - 21MB) This presentation describes the accelerating effects of human-induced climate warming, especially in the Arctic, and looks at solutions based on the work of Arjun Makhijani (Carbon-free and Nuclear-free: A Roadmap for US Energy Policy). Focus is on renewable energy sources now available to be developed without resorting to nuclear power, which obstructs real solutions.

"Nuclear Energy: Is it really healthy? Is it really green?" (Powerpoint slide show - 26MB) -Charles Weems MD and David Hall MD - WPSR Presentation July 31, 2007 Charlie and I developed this talk in 2007 to make the case that nuclear weapons are unconscionable weapons of mass destruction and nuclear power is too dirty, dangerous and expensive to help with global warming.

Orientation to Trident nuclear weapons system - Why I do this work (7mb PDF) This Powerpoint presentation reviews current US nuclear weapons policy specifically as related to the Trident system with reference to the devastation of atomic bombing and introduction to civil resistance at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, homeport for the West Coast Trident warships

"India, Iran and the NPT"  (Powerpoint slide show - 2.8MB)  This show I developed for a luncheon talk on August 26, 2008 before the Peace Through Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association. It focuses on the Faustian bargain imbedded in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the way that this has led to the conflicts over Iranian and Indian nuclear aspirations.

Talking with our kids about war and violence  These materials were developed during the runup to the second Iraq War in 2002. Sadly they apply to many situations of international and civil conflict.

"WPSR AD 2008"  (Powerpoint slide show - 33MB)  This show highlighted the activities and programs of WPSR for the WPSR Annual Dinner in October 2008.
